Looking at the specifications of the HP 2000-2a28dx, which will
arrive soon on the market with a price of only $300, we had hard time figuring
out what’s the difference between it and the $400 2000-2a10nr model we
overviewed recently.
Both 15.6-inchers come with the AMD Brazos 2.0 E1-1200 dual-core
processor, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB HDD, and DVD burner, alongside built-in webcam
and HDMI port. The only difference between the 2000-2a28dx and 2a10nr appears
to be in the USB section. The former sports three USB ports at the old USB 2.0
speeds, while the latter has three USB 3.0 connectors and another one running
on 2.0 speed. That said, if you don’t own an USB 3.0 external HDD or other
peripherals with the same tech, the 2000-2a28dx is a very reasonable choice due
to the $100 lower price tag.
To put these two notebooks into context, it’s worth noting that
they belong to the recently refreshed Hewlett-Packard 2000z series.
The 2000z represents the lowest end of the PC maker’s laptop lineup and sports
a plastic case packing some of the entry level AMD chips. There is also
Intel-based 2000(t) version as well, with basic Intel chips, such as the
Pentium B970 used in the HP
2000-2a20nr.
